What is a dental veneer?

Veneer’s are Fabricated from thin layers of porcelain, each veneer is custom-designed and permanently bonded onto the tooth surface. Treatment makes teeth look white, natural and extremely healthy. Given each veneer is held in place by a strong bond, very little preparation is required so the process is quick, pain-free and very effective.

The procedure has been likened to false nails being stuck on top of real nails Once fitted, a veneer should last for many years, but just like normal teeth, they can be broken or chipped, they still require maintenance and care – Guidance will be given by your dental team

What happens at my veneer appointments ?

To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface, which is roughly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added. Before trimming off the enamel, you and your dentist will decide on the need for a local anaesthetic to numb the area. Your

dentist will then make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which constructs your veneer. Once the veneers come back from the technician they can be bonded in place . Before the dental veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, your dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fit and colour. Once you are both happy the veneers are bonded on using a strong cement . AND YOUR NEW SMILE IS COMPLETE !
