FAQ'S ABOUT ORTHODONTISTS IN LEEDS AT LS1 DENTAL
What is Invisalign?
The revolutionary Invisalign method of orthodontic treatment involves the movement of teeth easily, comfortably and invisibly. Akin to a mouth guard, the patient wears a clear positioner/retainer/brace which has been specifically designed and constructed for the individual. Invisalign is widely preferred by adults due to the speed with which the treatment can be completed and the fact that most people will not realise that you are having treatment as there are no metal brackets or wires used. Therefore, the braces will cause minimal disruption to your lifestyle.
What does the treatment involve?
The Invisalign orthodontic solution involves providing the patient with a series of custom made clear aligners which gradually move teeth into a preferred position in the arch, little by little. Regular progress checks with the dentist in Leeds will constitute a frequent change of aligners as treatment progresses.
Which conditions can Invisalign be used to treat?
The system is very versatile and can be used to treat a number of orthodontist complaints including:
What do the braces feel like?
Invisalign braces are amongst the most comfortable and easy to wear braces available. The thin material used, is a soft but firm translucent acrylic. The braces do not irritate the soft tissue of the gums or create soreness, calluses and scars which are common with metal braces.
Do I need a referral to use Invisalign at your private surgery?
If you currently have a dentist, you do not require a referral to book an appointment at LS1 Dental. If you do not have a dentist, you can register with LS1 Dental so that we can take care of all your dental needs. We cover routine, general dentistry as well as cosmetic treatments, implants and braces. All you have to do is book an appointment and we will discuss the aspects of your smile that you are unhappy with and devise a treatment plan to rectify any problems and boost your confidence.
How long do I have to wear the braces?
The length of time it takes to complete treatment is dependant on the amount of movement teeth require. Similar to the time taken to move teeth with traditional braces, between 9-18 months are typically required.
Can I take the invisible braces out?
The more you can wear the positioners the faster the desired outcome will be achieved. They should be removed for eating and brushing but should be worn at night for maximum exposure. Conveniently, the braces can be removed for special occasions or if you wish to indulge in sticky foods.
How often will I need to visit LS1 Dental during Invisalign treatment?
Each case is different and your dentist will advise you, on average appointments are booked 6 weekly.
Is the treatment painful?
Some patients experience some very slight discomfort during the use of the aligners. On the whole the treatment is pain free. The slight discomfort which is experienced when the sets of aligners are changed, is very short term and minimal and will gradually disappear after a couple of days as teeth get used to the new set of aligners.
Will I have to wear a brace after my treatment is finished?
Following the completion of your course of Invisalign treatment, most patients will be asked to wear a retainer for up to 12 months to prevent teeth drifting back into their original positions.
If I am already in orthodontic treatment can I change to Invisalign?
It may be possible to replace metal braces with invisible braces. This needs to be discussed with your orthodontist so that we do not compromise the result that you will achieve long term.
How does Clearstep braces compare to Invisalign braces?
There are many similarities between Clearstep and Invisalign as they are both methods of orthodontics which use clear mouth guard type aligners to achieve an aesthetic smile.
